Classical blood purification — for deep-rooted skin and blood disorders, by the doctor.

Raktamokshana therapy at Adinath Ayurveda Hospital

What is Raktamokshana?

“Rakta” means blood, and “Mokshana” means release or purification. Raktamokshana is the classical Ayurvedic blood purification procedure — one of the five procedures of Panchakarma — used when impure blood is considered the root of a stubborn condition.

The doctor removes a small, controlled amount of impure blood by a classical method chosen for the patient. It is not a general cleanse and it is never done casually: it is used only when the classical texts indicate it for a particular condition, and only after careful assessment.

Stubborn skin disorders that do not respond to medicines often involve Pitta and Rakta — heat and blood — in Ayurvedic understanding. Raktamokshana addresses the blood itself, rather than only treating the skin surface.

Why Raktamokshana?

Some conditions do not shift with medicines alone, because the problem is deeper than the skin. Raktamokshana treats that deeper level — under the doctor's direct care.

For conditions medicines alone have not shifted
When creams and medicines have been tried and the condition keeps returning, the classical answer is to treat the blood.
Classical purification
It addresses the blood, not just the skin surface — the level where stubborn conditions are rooted.
Doctor-performed
Raktamokshana is performed by Dr. Gaurav Sharma himself — never by an assistant.
Only when truly indicated
Most patients never need it. It is done only when the doctor's assessment and the classical texts indicate it.
Part of a full plan
The procedure is followed by medicines and diet, so the benefit is supported and the condition does not simply return.

Are you facing any of these issues?

If any of these sound like you, this therapy was made for your problem.

A skin disorder that has not improved with medicines
A skin problem that keeps returning after treatment
Itching, redness or eruptions that will not settle
You have been assessed and the doctor has advised this procedure
You have been told your condition is blood-related

This therapy is never chosen by the patient — the doctor decides after assessment whether it is indicated.

Who needs Raktamokshana?

Raktamokshana is only for patients the doctor assesses as suitable after careful diagnosis. It is not for everyone, and it is never a first step.

It mainly addresses Pitta and Rakta — heat and blood involvement.

What's involved in a Raktamokshana session?

A typical session lasts as long as the doctor decides for your procedure.

1

Consultation and fitness assessment first. The doctor examines you, checks your reports, and decides whether Raktamokshana is indicated and safe for you.

2

Preparation. You may be given medicines or a diet to follow before the day, as the doctor advises.

3

The procedure. Performed by the doctor himself under sterile conditions, with single-use sterile instruments.

4

Duration. As long as the doctor decides for your procedure.

5

Monitoring. You rest and are observed after the procedure.

6

Post-care. Medicines and diet as prescribed, with rest and a follow-up visit.

Rest after the procedure, follow the diet and medicines exactly as prescribed, and attend your follow-up. This therapy is not for everyone — the doctor's assessment decides.

How do Adinath experts perform Raktamokshana?

At Adinath, Raktamokshana is performed by Dr. Gaurav Sharma himself, after Nadi Pariksha, diagnosis and a fitness assessment. It is never given without that assessment, and never as a routine or a package.

The procedure is done under sterile conditions with single-use sterile instruments, and is followed by prescribed medicines and diet so the benefit holds.

People who are pregnant, anaemic, or have low blood pressure must tell the doctor first. Also tell the doctor about blood-thinning medicines, recent illness, or any history of fainting.

Questions patients ask

What is Raktamokshana for?

Raktamokshana is a classical blood purification procedure for stubborn conditions — mainly skin disorders that have not responded to medicines — where the doctor finds blood involvement. It is used only when the classical texts indicate it.

How long is one session?

The length depends on the procedure the doctor chooses for you. The doctor explains it after your assessment.

How many sessions will I need?

Usually a single procedure. The doctor decides whether it is ever repeated — most patients who need it, need it only once.

Is it painful?

Mild and brief, using the classical minimal technique. The doctor explains exactly what to expect before the procedure.

Is it safe? Who should avoid it?

It is safe under sterile conditions by a qualified doctor, after careful assessment. People who are pregnant, anaemic, or have low blood pressure must tell the doctor first — as must anyone on blood-thinning medicines.

What do I do after a session?

Rest, take the prescribed medicines, and follow the diet exactly. Attend your follow-up visit so the doctor can check your progress.

Can I do it at home?

Never. Raktamokshana is a doctor-only procedure at the clinic, under sterile conditions. It must never be attempted outside a clinic.

What should I wear or eat before a session?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Follow the doctor's food instructions before and after — these may include a light diet or specific instructions for the day.

Will I need it?

Only if the classical texts indicate it for your condition — most patients don't. The doctor tells you honestly whether it is indicated for you or not.
